Ultrasound in Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
Choi Su-Ran

Abstract
Abnormal uterine bleeding is a common gynecologic presenting symptom. Performing transvaginal ultrasound serves
important clues, as like too thick, focally irregular, and indistinct endometrial conditons. Saline-infused sonohysterography
(SIS) is more accurate than transvaginal ultrasound for depicting endometrial conditions and is less invasive than
hysteroscopy. The majority of lesions of abnormal uterine bleeding are endometrial polyps, submucosal myomas,
endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial cancer, atrophic endometrium, and adenomyosis. The lesions of focally being are
endometrial polyps and submucosal myomas. Endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial cancer, and irregular endometrium
appear as diffusely thickened endometrium.
